To our new students and staff -- Welcome on board! Congratulations to parents and families on making the smart and informed decision to choose ZWIE as the ideal destination for your children!

Just as the theme of the forthcoming IB global online seminar, where I am invited to share at as well "International Education: preparing students for an interconnected world", indicates, we are living in an increasingly unpredictable VUCA but highly interconnected world today with no exception to anyone, any individual, any family, or any country.

Fortunately, at the very outset the founder of ZWIE prospectively aimed at being a leader of international education in China and to integrate the merits of global education. To cultivate, through creativity and wisdom, people with the unity of knowing and doing who will achieve self-realization and benefit the society. For the past 17 years ZWIE has been adhering to this initial intention, our vision and mission with the unswerving wills and endeavor.

The learning today is all about connections: connecting of concepts, connecting with the internet, connecting past, present and future, connecting of human networks, connecting with oneself, and human and social connections.

Therefore, our learning capacity and capability are fundamentally based on the establishment of all the connections. Transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary learning, without any fixed boundaries should not imprison our creativity and imagination, but should help us connect knowledge with the real world, associate thinking with action, and enable us to create infinite possibilities. More importantly, learning is not just something that happens in school. I would expect you all to proactively practise inquiry based, concept driven learning and teaching, to form into a good habit to raise quality questions, to find your own answers through inquiry and constantly reflect on the learning process and outcome so that to achieve our “self-development, adaptation, and self-renewal with changing times.”(IB Agency)

To equip with the knowledge and skills required in the interconnected world we need to possess all the abilities mentioned in the IB’s Approaches to Learning (ATL) – thinking, social, communication, self-management and research skills.

We are the great believers that in education authentic, effective, meaningful and quality learning is the central tenet and learner is at the centre of learning. We are supposed to focus on ensuring that real, in-depth learning takes place in schools and classrooms! Real learning is that learners' initiative, internal drive and internal awakening play a decisive role in becoming high self-efficacy learner. High self-efficacy learners are usually optimistic, can take positive action, dare to take challenges, and strive to overcome all sorts of obstacles. With self-efficacy, learners will become the real master of their learning, learning for themselves, learning for interest, learning for curiosity, learning for forming their own understanding and becoming lifelong learners!

We are committed to creating a learning environment full of participation, respect, reflection and creativity, focusing on exploring and developing the potential, personality and specialty of students and assisting them to become lifelong learners. With this mission statement we are striving to provide a full range of holistic education to students and to fully equip them with the knowledge and skills, and with both distinctive Chinese national identity as well as international mindedness for the 21st century.

We in ZWIE, have been consistently pursuing the goals for our aspirations of education and persevering in our arduous efforts over the last 17 years and will as always, never change the directions in the days to come.

各位家长、各位同学，以及中黄的所有老师们：

大家好！

非常高兴我们相聚在今天这个盛大的开学典礼！

首先，请允许我代表中黄，向孩子们表示祝贺，你们经过了层层考核与筛选，你们不光是家庭的未来，是中黄集团的培养重点，也是全球社会的未来。

同时，也非常感谢各位家长们，有你们的支持和信任，孩子才更有信心去创造属于他们的未来！

这是一个万物互联的时代。无论是个人，还是一个家庭，一个国家，都不可能像孤岛一样存在。今年的新冠疫情，也让我们对人类命运共同体有了更深刻的理解。在未来，科技发展加速推进，智能和信息化高度发达，世界超强关联，改变会更多、更猛、更快、更不可测。

作为国际教育领导者的IB，即将在9月8日（下周二）举办全球线上IB研讨会，主题就是“国际教育：让学生为互联互通的世界做好准备”。我也受邀作为嘉宾分享我们对这一主题的认识和观点。

这不仅是IB教育的命题，也是全世界的教育工作者要面临的挑战。值得庆幸的是，中黄自2003年创办之初就高瞻远瞩以此作为起点，2003年，中黄办学者怀揣“聚全球教育智慧，育中华民族精英”的教育理想，创办了中黄国际教育集团，面向未来的错综复杂、瞬息万变的世界，开启了中西融合教育的探索之路，发展到今天，已经成为华南地区富有影响力的教育集团，提供0～18岁全龄段成长规划以及个性化教育服务，中黄授权和管理的教育实体共计11家。董事长黄海峰先生说，“不论是在办学定位还是教育模式方面，中黄一以贯之地坚持中西融合全人教育的理念和方法为主线。” 这就是中黄的初心！“用创新与智慧， 培养知行合一、能实现自我和社会价值的人。”这就是中黄的使命！

同学们，你们是未来自由行走在世界的中国人，你们既要有修身齐家的个人修为，又要有兼济天下的理想和情怀；既要对中华这片热土保持深沉的爱，又要有万千气象虚怀若谷的胸怀。你们注定是不平凡的一代人，因为时代赋予了你们更大的责任。

那么，面对未来，万变之中的不变是什么呢？换句话说，在你们真正接受社会的考验之前，你们该具备的核心竞争力是什么？我认为，是如何学习的能力。

未来，知识和信息是几何式爆炸增长，死记硬背知识点，可能敌不过一套算法。鱼龙混杂的场景里，如何甄别信息，如何作出最优的选择，没有多重技能叠加，只靠某项技能单枪匹马去闯关解锁，几乎是不可能的。

所以，我们的学习力首先是以建立联系为基础的，跨学科式学习，没有围墙式的教育，不去禁锢我们的创造力和想象力，将知识与真实世界相连接，将思考与行动相连接，让学生创造无限可能。其次，学习绝不仅仅是学校里发生的事情，未来的人生长度可能会延长到几百年，一生中能接触的新事务可能是现在的数万倍，所以你们从现在开始，要刻苦钻研、熟练运用探究式、概念理解、协作式的学习方法，对世界永葆好奇，对万事万物有质疑的能力，要带着问题去寻找属于自己的答案，有自己的思考能力、判断能力，有终身学习的能力。

在中黄，不光学生要具备这样的学习力，所有的老师、家长，以及整个学习者社区，都应该具备终身学习的能力。从整个中黄集团层面，我们从办学理念、学校管理、文化和环境，给孩子们提供全方位的支撑，从具体的教育教学，我们有高素质的国际化教师队伍，尊重孩子的发言权、选择权、主导权，引导孩子们成为学习真正的主人。

我们坚信，世界上任何一种好的教育，首先必须是能否保证真正的、深度的、有效的、有质量的学习在学校、在课堂发生！教育的核心就是学习，学习的核心是学习者，学习者的核心是学习者的内力觉醒！教育最大的价值在于触动、激活、释放同学们沉睡着的潜能。真正的学习是学习者的能动性、内驱力、内力觉醒发挥了决定性的作用，成为高自我效能的人，而高自我效能的人通常都是乐观的，能够积极行动，勇于承担挑战，并且努力克服障碍。有了自我效能的学习者会成为学习真正的主人，为自己而学，为兴趣而学习，为好奇心而学，为形成自己理解、吃透弄懂而学！

我们要赋予同学们“成”的力量、尊重学生“长”的过程。营造更好的学习环境，提供更好的学习方法、教学方法，激活、呵护、释放我们潜在的巨大能量，让同学们开开心心做最好的自己！在复杂的、不断变化的社会中能沉着应对，积极改变，不断成长，长远发展。

这正是中黄所坚持的，中西融合全人教育教学体系的核心所在。

过往17年我们已经有深厚的积淀，比如09年创办的中黄管理的广州市白云区中大附属外国语小学的统考成绩平均分能比当地有四五十年办学历史的省一级公办名校高出14.67分；去年，广州市黄埔中黄外国语小学在大黄埔去的73所小学中，语数外统考成绩排名全区前五；就在今年刚过去的中考中，我们广州市黄埔中大附属外国语实验中学也收获了一批700多分高分高能的学生。还有过往大批从中黄毕业的学生，被常青藤盟校、曼大、帝国理工、清华、北大、港大、交大、中大等国内外名校录取的，数不胜数。

我们不是在夸我们的学校排名，不是在‘秀’我们的考试成绩，而是一直在心无旁骛地坚持课程融合探索和教研改革实践的方向，力图找到中国基础教育改革的有效途径，实现我们“既要…… 又要……”的宏伟教育理想。即如何通过一套课程和同样的在校时间，达到国内国外两种不同教育体系的不同标准，实现既要满足基础教育阶段国家课程要求的前提下，同时满足IB项目的标准和实施细则，也能让学生实现考试成绩优秀，中西名校升学一样成功和能力素养全面提升的满意答卷，也就是我们所说的“双出口”。

同时，我们也深知，距离中黄“让教育适应孩子，让世界和而不同”的教育理想，我们还有一大段距离要走，中西融合的全人教育，在全球范围内都可谓是一大教育创举，我们才刚刚起步，面对复杂多变的未来世界，我们更是初衷不改，坚守本心，会继续探索，终身学习，不断超越。

在座的每一位都是学习者社区成员，每个角色都有自己的使命，我们相互关联，一荣俱荣，学习的道路曲折而漫长，希望我们一起，今日从中黄起步，明天以终身学习的能力成就人生，造福人类。

最后，我想转达中黄国际教育集团董事长黄海峰先生的期待，“希望我们办的每所学校都能成为当地国际交流的示范校、引领校、样板校。希望我们的每一位孩子将来都有机会成为最好的自己，同时有余力去服务他人与社会。”
